Linux kernel maintainers have the same question: Who are their programmers, and how can the kernel community be sure the code they submit is really theirs?
If such a thing existed, languages could generate these artifacts and browsers could run them, without any JavaScript involved. This format would be easier for languages to support and could potentially exist in standard upstream compilers, runtimes, toolchains, and popular packages without the need for third-party distributions.
