Our bulk testing tool Day10 employs an alternative approach to standard CI through merge queue encouragement. Rather than reconstructing opam environments for each package (repeatedly recompiling common dependencies), it assembles environments from pre-built component packages merged in overlayfs using hardlinks. This enables complete package database reconstruction within thirty minutes on single multicore machines, facilitating compiler variant build comparisons. The outcome enables rapid detection of packages breaking during transitions from OCaml 5.4 to 5.5, or from mainline to OxCaml.
